Nigeria’s equities market staged a strong recovery after a recent downturn, with investors adding approximately ₦720 billion to their portfolios in one trading day.

The rally reversed the losses recorded in previous sessions as renewed buying interest pushed the market higher. The improvement also lifted the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index, reflecting increased confidence among market participants.

Market analysts attributed the rebound to renewed demand for fundamentally strong stocks across key sectors of the economy. Banking, consumer goods, and industrial equities were among the major drivers of the positive performance, helping to restore investor sentiment.

As a result of the day’s gains, the total market capitalization of listed companies rose significantly, recovering a substantial portion of the value lost during the recent market decline.

Financial experts noted that bargain hunting by investors contributed to the rally, as many took advantage of lower share prices following the previous sell-off. They added that sustained corporate earnings and expectations of improved economic conditions could continue to support market performance in the coming weeks.

Despite the impressive recovery, analysts advised investors to remain focused on companies with solid fundamentals, warning that market fluctuations may persist due to domestic and global economic developments.

The latest performance signals renewed optimism in the Nigerian stock market, with investors hoping the positive momentum will be sustained in subsequent trading session

A group of stakeholders in Warri has announced its decision to withdraw support for the incumbent member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, while explaining its position, cited what it described as dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance and representation of the constituency.

The stakeholders subsequently declared their support for Comrade Jude Ukori Mulade as their preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.

According to the group, its decision followed concerns over the level of representation and development delivered to the constituency under the current administration.

The stakeholders said they were seeking a representative who would be more responsive to the needs of the people and more committed to advancing issues affecting residents across the constituency.

They urged other political stakeholders and eligible voters in Warri to consider Mulade’s candidacy as the 2027 elections approach.

The group’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities and realignments expected to shape the contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ereyitomi, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the group’s statement.
