Jubilation in Warri Federal Constituency as NDP Candidate, Mulade Sheriff, Pledges Peace, Unity and Development
By Divine Perezide
WARRI, DELTA STATE — The National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for the Warri Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Comrade Mulade Blessing Sheriff, PhD, has pledged to promote peace, unity and inclusive development among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo people if elected into the House of Representatives.
Mulade, a renowned United Nations Peace Ambassador, environmental rights activist and the Ibe-Sorimowei of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, made the commitment during the official flag-off of his campaign and consultation meeting with supporters and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
He assured the people of Warri Federal Constituency of effective and quality representation, promising to use constructive advocacy and stakeholder engagement to attract greater federal attention and developmental opportunities to the constituency.
According to him, the constituency has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economy but has not received commensurate development, empowerment and federal attention.
“If elected in 2027 into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs would be given the deserved special attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders. As the voice for the voiceless, I assure you that the voice of Warri people will be heard constructively,” he said.
Mulade further pledged to collaborate with the local, state and federal governments to revive key economic infrastructure, including the Warri and Koko seaports and the Warri Industrial Park.
He also promised to promote employment and economic empowerment programmes targeting youths and women through agriculture, fisheries and skills-acquisition initiatives.
The NDP candidate stressed that his ambition was not motivated by political symbolism or personal interests, but by a determination to bridge existing developmental gaps through inclusive representation.
“I am not here for a political funfair gathering to stand in the gap. Neither am I a political mole nor a placeholder. I am here to close the gap through constructive advocacy, engagement and an inclusive approach,” he stated.
He described himself as an independent and original candidate capable of providing a new voice for the people of the constituency, urging voters to assess candidates based on capacity, competence and their ability to deliver meaningful representation.
Mulade also called on the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities to reject ethnic divisions and embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that continued conflict among the people would only undermine development.
“We cannot continue to fight ourselves, deprive ourselves or destroy ourselves. Now is the time for us to rise above the confines of our individualistic and ethnic considerations to build a broader relationship based on trust, peace and unity across Warri Federal Constituency,” he said.
He appealed to the people to support a new era of people-oriented and inclusive representation, saying his aspiration was aimed at deepening peace, unity, progress and development across Warri Federal Constituency and Delta State.
Mulade formally presented himself as a stakeholder committed to providing what he described as a “light of hope” for the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Kingdom of Tooro in western Uganda has been thrown into mourning following the death of its monarch, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at the age of 34. 🇺🇬👑
King Oyo became king in 1995 at just three years old, following the death of his father, making him the world’s youngest reigning monarch, according to Guinness World Records.
He was officially crowned when he turned 18 in 2010.
The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed. However, Ugandan media reports said the young king had been critically ill and was receiving treatment in the United States.
Despite Uganda being governed by an elected president and parliament, the country maintains several traditional kingdoms that continue to hold strong cultural influence.
King Oyo was the 13th monarch of the Tooro Kingdom, which was established in the early 19th century. He was regarded as a respected leader who championed youth empowerment, education, environmental conservation and HIV/AIDS awareness.
His death has triggered an outpouring of tributes across Uganda.
💔 The Tooro Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, described the monarch’s death as an “immeasurable loss” and called on the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful.
The Buganda Kingdom and Rwenzururu Kingdom have also expressed condolences to the people of Tooro.
⚽ Uganda’s football governing body has meanwhile announced a moment of silence before all football matches until September 4 in honour of King Oyo’s legacy and contribution to the sport.
Although King Oyo was not officially married, the Tooro Kingdom says the continuity of the Crown is assured, with a prince set to succeed him. The identity of the heir will reportedly be revealed according to Tooro traditions and customs.
👑 From becoming king at just 3 years old to leaving the throne at 34, King Oyo’s extraordinary life has come to an end.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
