By Favour Bibaikefie
LAGOS, Nigeria – Congress Newspaper has commenced a series of activities to commemorate its fifth anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s journey as a media platform dedicated to independent journalism and public accountability.
The anniversary celebrations, which will culminate on July 16, 2026, are expected to feature a range of programmes designed to reflect on the newspaper’s achievements, recognize its contributors, and engage stakeholders on the future of journalism in Nigeria.
According to the management of the newspaper, the month-long celebration is themed around the values that have guided the publication since its establishment—excellence, impact, commitment, courage, and service.
Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, the management noted that the occasion provides an opportunity to assess the publication’s contributions to the media landscape while reaffirming its commitment to credible and fearless journalism.
Since its launch in July 2021, Congress Newspaper has built a reputation for providing factual reporting, investigative journalism, and coverage of issues affecting underserved communities. The publication operates under the motto, “True, Fearless and Credibility,” a principle it says has shaped its editorial direction over the past five years.
As part of the anniversary programme, the newspaper plans to publish a special commemorative edition highlighting key stories, milestones, and achievements recorded since its inception. Other activities lined up include public engagement initiatives and an appreciation event to honour staff members, contributors, and partners who have played vital roles in the organization’s growth.
Management further disclosed that the anniversary events will create a platform for discussions on emerging trends in the media industry, particularly issues relating to digital transformation, press freedom, media sustainability, and ethical journalism.
The organization described the anniversary as both a celebration of achievements and a renewed commitment to strengthening its role in promoting accountability, transparency, and responsible journalism.
Industry stakeholders, readers, advertisers, and members of the public are expected to participate in the various activities scheduled throughout July as Congress Newspaper marks five years of media service.
For enquiries and participation in the anniversary activities, interested persons may contact the management through its official communication channels, including email, social media platforms, website, and telephone lines.
