Forcados Leaders Urge Oborevwori to Complete, Equip Abandoned General Hospital

‎Residents of Forcados community in Burutu Local Government Area, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, called on the Delta State Government to complete, equip, and staff the community’s General Hospital, stating that the facility’s continued abandonment is depriving them of access to essential healthcare.

‎The appeal was made by a cross-section of community leaders, including the Chairman of Forcados Community, Endurance Takor; the Amayanabo of Forcados, Chief Macbeth Tubotu, JP; and Elder Romeo Ekpatimi, who spoke separately on the matter.

‎Takor said the hospital project had remained at its current stage of construction for a long time, expressing concern that it appeared to be heading toward abandonment. He appealed directly to the state governor to intervene, describing the matter as one that bordered on the health and wellbeing of the community.

‎Chief Tubotu disclosed that the hospital was initiated during the tenure of former Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and said he was surprised that a project nearing completion had been left unattended. He urged the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritize the completion, equipping, and staffing of the facility for the benefit of residents in Forcados and beyond.

‎Elder Ekpatimi added his voice to the call, joining other members of the community in appealing to the governor to come to the aid of Forcados by ensuring the project is completed without further delay.

‎The community leaders expressed optimism that the state government would respond swiftly to their appeal, noting that a functional hospital would significantly improve access to healthcare for residents of Forcados and its environs.
