54 PAP Postgraduate Scholarship Beneficiaries Depart for UK Studies

Fifty-four beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) offshore postgraduate scholarship scheme have departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom to begin their academic programmes at various universities.
The latest deployment brings the number of PAP beneficiaries awarded offshore postgraduate scholarships this year to 243 under the leadership of the Programme Administrator, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator, Igoniko Oduma, and made available to IduwiniVoice on Saturday, September 12, the scholars departed Abuja and arrived in London on Friday.
The 54 students are part of the 150 scholarship beneficiaries who participated in a pre-departure orientation organised by the PAP in August ahead of their overseas studies.
The beneficiaries are expected to pursue postgraduate programmes in several specialised fields, including software engineering, cybersecurity, global public health, oil and gas engineering, law, fintech analytics, construction engineering management, forensic audit and data science analytics.
Ahead of their departure, Otuaro charged the scholars to remain focused on their academic responsibilities and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria and the Niger Delta.
He urged them to respect the laws of their host country as well as the rules and regulations governing their respective universities.
The PAP Administrator also reminded the beneficiaries that their education should ultimately contribute to the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria, stressing the importance of returning home after their studies to deploy their acquired knowledge and skills towards nation-building.
“Education is the vehicle for the socio-economic advancement and sustainable peace and stability of the Niger Delta.
“Investing in the education of the youths of the region is a sure way of guaranteeing a greater and better tomorrow for the region,” Otuaro said.
He attributed the scale of the scholarship deployments to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for the Presidential Amnesty Programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Otuaro also acknowledged the Office of the National Security Adviser for what he described as its guidance and support, while commending PAP stakeholders for their continued cooperation.
“We express our profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his massive support for the programme. Without his strong backing, the huge deployments would not have been possible.
“We are also very grateful to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his efficient supervision, deep insights and professional input that have helped the programme,” he said.

The campaign convoy of former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has reportedly been attacked by suspected hoodlums in Kebbi State, leaving several media equipment destroyed.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, November 5, 2026, while the campaign team was moving through the state for political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the campaign team, the attackers allegedly blocked the convoy, pelted vehicles with stones and subsequently targeted journalists and members of the accompanying media crew.

The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to address persistent electricity challenges by seeking increased private-sector investment and promoting cleaner energy alternatives to improve power supply across the state.
