PDP Members Rally Behind Julius Pondi Ahead of 2027 Burutu Reps Election
By Rukevwe Odeh
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have reportedly thrown their support behind Hon. Julius Pondi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate seeking to retain the Burutu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
IduwiniVoice staff Reporter Rukevwe reoorted that the development signals a notable shift in the political alignment within the constituency as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
According to the report, the PDP members cited Pondi’s previous interventions in the constituency, including development projects, scholarship initiatives and empowerment programmes, as some of the reasons behind their decision to support his candidacy.
Pondi, who previously represented Burutu Federal Constituency on the PDP platform, later moved to the APC as part of the wave of defections involving members of the National Assembly.
The latest endorsement is expected to generate further political discussion in Burutu, particularly as the major political parties begin strengthening their structures and mobilising supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
Supporters of the lawmaker believe his record of constituency interventions has helped him maintain political relevance across the federal constituency.
The reported backing by members of his former political party could therefore become an important factor in the emerging contest for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat.
