Adeyemi Claims He Borrowed ₦400m to Obtain Government Appointment

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identified himself as the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has alleged that he borrowed ₦400 million to secure his appointment in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adeyemi said the money was obtained through loans and disclosed that those who financed him have now reported the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), demanding repayment.
According to him, the debt remains unpaid because the funds were allegedly used to facilitate his appointment.
Adeyemi also expressed frustration over the Federal Government’s handling of the controversy, insisting that he has been unfairly portrayed in the public despite maintaining that his appointment was genuine.
He denied reports suggesting he planned to flee Nigeria or seek asylum abroad, stating that he remains in the country and has no intention of leaving. He further claimed that his social media accounts had been targeted, limiting his ability to respond to developments surrounding the case.
The controversy began after the Presidency publicly disowned the PFIPC, describing it as a non-existent agency and identifying Adeyemi as an impostor. Subsequent investigations by the police reportedly alleged that forged appointment letters and other official documents were used in connection with the organisation.
Despite the government’s position, Adeyemi has continued to insist that he legitimately occupied the office and operated openly for several years, working with various government institutions.
He has also repeated allegations that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, received ₦400 million through an intermediary to facilitate the appointment and later demanded additional payments. Gbajabiamila has denied the allegations, while his legal team has threatened legal action over the claims.
The issue gained wider attention after the disputed council appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Act with a budget allocation exceeding ₦1.3 billion. President Tinubu has since directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter and submit its findings.

A group of stakeholders in Warri has announced its decision to withdraw support for the incumbent member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, while explaining its position, cited what it described as dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance and representation of the constituency.
The stakeholders subsequently declared their support for Comrade Jude Ukori Mulade as their preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
According to the group, its decision followed concerns over the level of representation and development delivered to the constituency under the current administration.
The stakeholders said they were seeking a representative who would be more responsive to the needs of the people and more committed to advancing issues affecting residents across the constituency.
They urged other political stakeholders and eligible voters in Warri to consider Mulade’s candidacy as the 2027 elections approach.
The group’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities and realignments expected to shape the contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ereyitomi, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the group’s statement.

The recurring situation has raised concerns among motorists, residents and other road users, who say the condition of the road continues to disrupt movement and create difficulties for commuters whenever there is significant rainfall.
The development has also renewed calls for attention to the drainage system along the route, with residents hoping that a lasting solution will be implemented to prevent the road from repeatedly becoming flooded.

A heavy downpour has left the popular NNPC Housing Complex Road, also known as Ekpan Link Road, submerged in floodwater in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The rainfall caused significant water accumulation along the busy road, affecting movement and creating difficulties for motorists and other road users.
The condition of the road has renewed concerns over flooding and drainage challenges in the area, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
Residents and commuters are expected to exercise caution while using the affected route as efforts to manage the situation continue.
