Tinubu Reiterates Commitment to Religious Freedom, Urges Faith-Based Groups to Promote Unity
By Rukevwe Odeh
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to uphold every Nigerian’s constitutional right to practise their religion freely, stressing that religious organisations have a crucial role in fostering peace and national cohesion.
The President made the remarks during the inauguration of the new national headquarters of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), known as the Hassanat Abebi Okunnu House, in Surulere, Lagos. He was represented at the ceremony by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).
According to Tinubu, his government will continue to protect freedom of religion as guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution while encouraging religious bodies to champion tolerance, peaceful coexistence and unity among citizens. He noted that faith-based organisations remain valuable partners in building a stable and prosperous nation.
The President praised the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society for its long-standing contributions to education, healthcare, moral development and humanitarian services, saying government cannot achieve national development without the support of organisations committed to public service.
Tinubu also commended elder statesman Alhaji Femi Okunnu (SAN) for donating the new headquarters in honour of his late mother, Alhaja Hassanat Abebi Okunnu. He described the gesture as a lasting legacy that would continue to benefit future generations while paying tribute to the values she instilled in her family.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat urged the leadership of the society to remain committed to its founding vision by promoting quality education and sound moral values. He expressed concern over what he described as a growing decline in societal values among young people and called on Islamic educational institutions to help reverse the trend through learning and character development.
Also addressing the gathering, ADSN National President Alhaji Mosediq Kazeem described the commissioning of the headquarters as a major milestone in the organisation’s 103-year history. He said the society would continue to modernise its institutions, invest in youth development and strengthen its educational programmes in line with its mission of serving the nation.

Warri Group Withdraws Support for Ereyitomi, Backs Mulade for 2027 Reps Election
By staff Reporter Rukevwe Odeh
A group of stakeholders in Warri has announced its decision to withdraw support for the incumbent member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, while explaining its position, cited what it described as dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance and representation of the constituency.
The stakeholders subsequently declared their support for Comrade Jude Ukori Mulade as their preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
According to the group, its decision followed concerns over the level of representation and development delivered to the constituency under the current administration.
The stakeholders said they were seeking a representative who would be more responsive to the needs of the people and more committed to advancing issues affecting residents across the constituency.
They urged other political stakeholders and eligible voters in Warri to consider Mulade’s candidacy as the 2027 elections approach.
The group’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities and realignments expected to shape the contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ereyitomi, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the group’s statement.
