The United States Mission in Nigeria has reminded Nigerians who also hold U.S. citizenship that they are required by law to use a valid American passport whenever they enter or leave the United States.

In a travel advisory shared through its official X account, the mission stressed that the rule applies to every U.S. citizen, including children with dual nationality. It warned that using a foreign passport in place of a U.S. passport could lead to travel complications.

According to the advisory, dual nationals are not permitted to use a non-U.S. passport to obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). The mission explained that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security routinely rejects or revokes ESTA approvals issued to American citizens who attempt to apply with a foreign passport.

The embassy also encouraged U.S. citizens living outside the country, including those residing in Nigeria, to ensure their passports remain valid before arranging international travel.

It advised travelers whose passports have expired or are close to expiration to renew them ahead of their trips to avoid unnecessary delays or restrictions.

The mission further reminded travelers that several countries require passports to remain valid for at least six months before entry is granted, urging citizens to verify their travel documents well in advance of departure.

A group of stakeholders in Warri has announced its decision to withdraw support for the incumbent member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, while explaining its position, cited what it described as dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance and representation of the constituency.

The stakeholders subsequently declared their support for Comrade Jude Ukori Mulade as their preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.

According to the group, its decision followed concerns over the level of representation and development delivered to the constituency under the current administration.

The stakeholders said they were seeking a representative who would be more responsive to the needs of the people and more committed to advancing issues affecting residents across the constituency.

They urged other political stakeholders and eligible voters in Warri to consider Mulade’s candidacy as the 2027 elections approach.

The group’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities and realignments expected to shape the contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ereyitomi, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the group’s statement.
