Many Feared Dead, About 30 Missing After Fresh Attack on Benue Community
By Rukevwe odeh
Several people are believed to have lost their lives, while nearly 30 others remain unaccounted for after suspected armed herdsmen launched a deadly assault on Agadagba community in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, the attackers had earlier struck the nearby Ochobo community, where two residents were reportedly killed before advancing toward Agadagba.
Residents said the first attempt to invade Agadagba was resisted by local youths. However, the gunmen reportedly returned later and carried out a more devastating attack, firing indiscriminately and forcing many villagers to flee into nearby bushes for safety.
A community member, who spoke while hiding, said the attack caused widespread panic as families ran in different directions to escape the violence.
The resident explained that many people are feared dead, while about 30 others have yet to be located, leaving uncertainty over whether they survived or remain trapped in the surrounding forest. Search efforts are ongoing as relatives continue to look for missing loved ones.
The latest incident has heightened fears among residents, adding to the recurring wave of violent attacks that have affected several communities across Benue State in recent months. Security concerns remain high as calls grow for stronger measures to protect vulnerable rural areas.

Warri Group Withdraws Support for Ereyitomi, Backs Mulade for 2027 Reps Election
By staff Reporter Rukevwe Odeh
A group of stakeholders in Warri has announced its decision to withdraw support for the incumbent member representing the Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, while explaining its position, cited what it described as dissatisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance and representation of the constituency.
The stakeholders subsequently declared their support for Comrade Jude Ukori Mulade as their preferred candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
According to the group, its decision followed concerns over the level of representation and development delivered to the constituency under the current administration.
The stakeholders said they were seeking a representative who would be more responsive to the needs of the people and more committed to advancing issues affecting residents across the constituency.
They urged other political stakeholders and eligible voters in Warri to consider Mulade’s candidacy as the 2027 elections approach.
The group’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities and realignments expected to shape the contest for the Warri Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ereyitomi, who currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, has yet to publicly respond to the allegations contained in the group’s statement.
